SARAT CHANDRA CHATTOPADHYAY SRIKANTA PDF

The story revolves around a wandering young man from the age of fifteen to thirty plus. It is written in first person by a man who has seen the world and wishes to share his experience with the readers. As I progressed, I noted a brilliant plot doctoring by Sarat Chandra. Basically, the novel is a love story of Srikanta and Rajlakshmi aka Pyari, but this commonest theme is treated in the most unique manner, and the result is a voluminous complex novel, which enticed me with its steady flow and innovative story telling. Here he meets with some characters who shape his outlook toward life.

He identified himself with the male characters mainly as narrators who had not much to do, that men are the architect of his own destiny found little mention in his work. His best novels are Palli Samaj , Charitraheen , Devdas , Nishkriti , Srikanta in four parts , , and , Griha Daha , Sesh Prasna and Sesher Parichay published posthumously However, Sarat detested the Brahmo reform movement and criticized it. Choosing between rationalism and age-old ritual of caste-ism, where and how does one begin? And how does the transition happen. The style of writing is decent, but I think this one was lost in translation. I am sure this would have been a 4. Jun 05, Sid rated it it was amazing This book must be read in Bengali - in my opinion, the greatest Bengali novel ever. With beautiful narratives and descriptions of the Indian landscape and its unique men and women, it is a story about a weak-willed man who dreams of a better world, yet is moved to inaction by his own inertia to do anything about it.
