CHIPSCOPE ILA PDF

ChipScope is a set of tools made by Xilinx that allows you to easily probe the internal signals of your design inside an FPGA, much as you would do with a logic analyzer. The sample memory of the analyzer is limited by the memory resources of the FPGA. Also, ChipScope cannot sample as quickly as an external logic analyzer. It is therefore not possible to detect glitches with ChipScope. In order to use the ChipScope internal logic analyzer in an existing design project, you first generate the ChipScope core modules, which perform the trigger and waveform capturing functionality on the FPGA. Afterwards, you instantiate these cores in your Verilog code, and you connect those modules to the signals you want to monitor.

Implement your design in Project Navigator and configure your device. Analyze your design using the ChipScope Pro Analyzer. Use this software to generate all of the cores available in the ChipScope Pro system. You can use the wizard provided to create NGC netlists with HDL instantiation templates for any of the supported synthesis tools. You can then use the templates to connect the ChipScope Pro cores to the design logic that you want to view.

Each flow offers its own advantages, as shown in the following table. ILA The ILA core is a customizable logic analyzer core that can be used to monitor the internal signals in your design.

Because the ILA core is synchronous to the design being monitored, all design clock constraints applied to your design are also applied to the components inside the ILA core. Use this software to download designs, set trigger conditions, and display data. You can show data as waveforms, lists, or graphs, and can tokenize values.
